A little about me...

One of my favourite activities is dancing, as I love dancing and having fun.

What is one of the most important things you should know about us? That’s easy: our fabulous teams! Pure and simple.
Dedicated to being the best that a family could ask for, our team are constantly developing themselves through our training program run by childcare and EYFS experts.
It is not just our little ones who are the passionate lifelong learners here at Kindred! It’s all a testament to their love of what they do, and what makes Kindred the incredible, loving place that it is.

DAY IN THE LIFE

Day in the Life

Drop Off

Our doors open from 08:55, where you and your little one will be greeted by a member of our friendly team who will strive to ensure that the transition from home to nursery is a smooth and happy one. Wave ‘see you soon!’ to your child in the knowledge that they will be safe, well cared for and having endless amounts of fun as they settle in for the day ahead.

Morning

The morning offers plenty of exciting opportunities for learning and discovery. Our children enjoy a range of enrichment activities, adult-led learning linked to focus topics and child-led play experiences all based in the Montessori approach. From STEM and sensory activities to creative arts, imaginative role play and cosy reading corners, there is truly something for every child to enjoy. Outdoor play also forms an important part of the morning, allowing children to build confidence, develop physical skills and explore through active play. A mid-morning snack is available from 10:00 to keep everyone energised.

Lunch

In the afternoon, we come together for circle time before we enjoy lunch. Mealtimes provide a wonderful opportunity to socialise with friends, develop independence and explore a variety of flavours and textures.

Nap Time

Following lunch, our younger children can enjoy a well-earned nap or quiet time. For our little sleepers, we create a calm and comforting atmosphere using soft lighting, soothing music and cosy bedding to support rest and relaxation. Children who are not sleeping can enjoy quiet indoor activities, stories and gentle play, helping to create a peaceful transition into the afternoon.

Afternoon

Our children continue their learning journey through a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence. Whether exploring open-ended resources, engaging in imaginative play or enjoying active time outdoors, every afternoon offers opportunities for discovery and development.

Home

As the day draws to a close, children enjoy relaxed play with their friends before being collected throughout the evening. Families are kept up to date through Satchel during the day, and at collection time your child's key person will share highlights of their learning, achievements and wellbeing, along with any important information. Nursery closes at 15:15, when we wave our final goodbyes and wish everyone a safe journey home.

This is just an example day that the nursery follows, each day is subject to variation depending on activities and the needs of the children.

FAQs

FAQs

What are the staff-to-child ratios at your nursery?

Our staff-to-child ratios strictly adhere to UK regulations to ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
Our regulated ratios are as follows:
Babies (Under 2 years): 1 staff member to every 3 children (1:3)
Toddlers (2-3 years): 1 staff member to every 5 children (1:5)
Preschoolers (3-4 years): 1 staff member to every 8 children (1:8)

How do the settling in sessions at your nursery work?

Whilst the exact structure of our settling in sessions depends on your individual child's needs, we typically offer three sessions. During the first session you and your child meet their key worker and collaboratively fill out the 'All About Me' booklet, sharing and important information. This is followed by two drop-off session. We encourage parents to leave whenever they feel ready, ensuring the separation feels comfortable for both you and your child.
If your child is struggling to settle, we are highly flexible and can offer more sessions to ensure they are comfortable before they begin.

Does your nursery have links with any local charities?

Yes, we are committed to being an active part of the Maida Vale community, regularly participating in charity events, such as organising donations to the local food bank, helping teach our children about social responsibility and giving back.

How does your nursery prepare my child for the transition to school?

We maintain key connections with many primary schools in the area to ensure a confident transition for our children. We invite teachers from local schools to visit the nursery to meet our children in an environment where they feel comfortable, making the introduction to their future teacher positive and relaxed.

How often do the children get to play outside at your nursery?

At Kindred Windmill, we say there is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes! We ensure our children get outside as much as possible and in all weather conditions!

Reviews for Kindred Windmill Montessori School

Hear what our families think on daynurseries.co.uk, the UK's most trusted nursery directory with ratings based on reviews from verified parents.

"The school is special because of... the deeply thoughtful way that Montessori principals are ingrained in the life of the nursery. Children are given so much scope to follow their interests but all within a strong framework of learning to care for and work with each other. I highly recommend Kindred Windmill Montessori Nursery School."

V P

"Our daughter has been with Kindred Windmill for 7 months now. We love how enriching the environment is. The kids are well supported by the team to settle, feel secure, explore and show confidence. Highly recommend."

D H

"My son is happy to go to Windmill every day and I'm extremely confident in all the staff and with the level of care he receives. The hygiene is excellent (removal of shoes inside) and the environment is nurturing. Would 100% recommend."
