Why families choose Kindred Twickenham

At Kindred Twickenham Nursery and Pre-School, many of our staff are longstanding members, providing consistent and familiar care that helps children feel secure and allows us to build lasting trust with our families. We are also proud to offer an amazing range of facilities designed to spark curiosity and help development.

Our large garden, a real rarity in London, provides plenty of space for our little ones to explore and learn in nature. Our babies have their own designated outdoor garden and an indoor garden! This unique indoor space means they can safely experience the sensory wonder of the outdoors all year round.

For our active pre-schoolers, we have a dedicated indoor soft play area, ensuring they always have a fun, safe space for physical activities and developing their motor skills.

A little about me...

My favourite nursery rhyme is Sleeping Bunnies because I love watching the children's excitement build as they wait to wake up and hop around together.

What is one of the most important things you should know about us? That’s easy: our fabulous teams! Pure and simple.
Dedicated to being the best that a family could ask for, our team are constantly developing themselves through our training program run by childcare and EYFS experts.
It is not just our little ones who are the passionate lifelong learners here at Kindred! It’s all a testament to their love of what they do, and what makes Kindred the incredible, loving place that it is.

DAY IN THE LIFE

Day in the Life

Drop Off

Our doors open from 07:45, where you and your little one will be greeted by a member of our friendly team who will strive to ensure that the transition from home to nursery is a smooth and happy one. Wave ‘see you soon!’ to your child in the knowledge that they will be safe, well cared for and having endless amounts of fun as they settle in for the day ahead.

Breakfast

Our children start their day off correctly with a healthy range of options to choose from, such as cereals, fruit and toast for breakfast. For weaning babies at all mealtimes, a specially curated weaning menu is prepared by our trained chef and can be mashed, chopped or pureed depending on your child's individual needs.

Morning

Fuelled with a yummy breakfast, children enjoy a range of enrichment activities, adult-led learning linked to focus topics and child-led play experiences. From loose parts exploration and sensory activities to creative arts, imaginative role play and cosy reading corners, there is truly something for every child to enjoy. Outdoor play also forms an important part of the morning, allowing children to build confidence, develop physical skills and explore through active play. A healthy snack is available from 10:00 to keep everyone energised throughout their busy morning.

Lunch

From 11:30, we enjoy lunch, freshly prepared by our on-site chef. Mealtimes provide a wonderful opportunity to socialise with friends, develop independence and explore a variety of flavours and textures. Our seasonal menus offer plenty of choice and are carefully adapted to accommodate individual dietary requirements and preferences.

Nap Time

Following lunch, our younger children can enjoy a well-earned nap or quiet time. For our little sleepers, we create a calm and comforting atmosphere using soft lighting, soothing music and cosy bedding to support rest and relaxation. Children who are not sleeping can enjoy quiet indoor activities, stories and gentle play, helping to create a peaceful transition into the afternoon.

Afternoon

We come together for circle time before our children continue their learning journey through a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence. Whether exploring open-ended resources, engaging in imaginative play or enjoying active time outdoors, every afternoon offers opportunities for discovery and development.

Snack

To keep little ones fuelled and ready for all the awe and wonder their days hold, we offer a healthy mid-afternoon snack, including fresh fruit and vegetables alongside other nutritious options. From 15:30, our children enjoy a delicious evening meal before settling into a relaxed period of child-led play, giving them time to unwind and enjoy activities of their own choosing.

Home

As the day draws to a close, children enjoy relaxed play with their friends before being collected throughout the evening. Families are kept up to date through Satchel during the day, and at collection time your child's key person will share highlights of their learning, achievements and wellbeing, along with any important information. Nursery closes at 18:00, when we wave our final goodbyes and wish everyone a safe journey home.

This is just an example day that the nursery follows, each day is subject to variation depending on activities and the needs of the children.

FAQs

FAQs

How often do the children play outside at the nursery?

We place a big emphasis on outdoor exploration and learning, ensuring our children are outside frequently throughout the day. We facilitate this by providing free flow access to our outdoor spaces, allowing children to move between indoor and outdoor activities as they choose.

What are the designated parking and access arrangements for drop-off and pick-up at your nursery?

One of our buildings has a driveway for quick drop-offs and pick-ups. There is also ample free on-street parking available directly outside the nursery.

How do the settling in sessions at your nursery work?

Our settling-in process is structured across three days to ensure a gradual and comfortable transition for your child:
During the first session, you stay with your child to meet their key person and complete the 'All About Me' booklet and all necessary paperwork.
For the second session you will drop off your child for an hour, allowing them to practice separation and start bonding with the staff independently.
The final session is extended to two hours to allow your child to experience more of the nursery routine.
We are highly flexible; if your child requires more time to feel secure, we can easily accommodate and arrange additional sessions.

What are the staff-to-child ratios at your nursery?

Our staff-to-child ratios strictly adhere to UK regulations to ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
Our regulated ratios are as follows:
Babies (Under 2 years): 1 staff member to every 3 children (1:3)
Toddlers (2-3 years): 1 staff member to every 5 children (1:5)
Preschoolers (3-4 years): 1 staff member to every 8 children (1:8)

“Our daughter absolutely loves Kindred Twickenham... She gets genuinely excited when she sees her teachers, and we have seen a noticeable improvement in her speech and overall development since starting. The staff are incredibly friendly, caring and attentive. We also really appreciate the regular updates on the app throughout the day… which gives us real peace of mind. They run lots of fun, engaging activities and often share photos, so we feel involved in her day even when we are at work.”

My child feels happy and secure every day, and I've noticed significant growth in their social and learning skills since starting here. The nursery provides a wide variety of fun and engaging activities, both indoors and outdoors, which help children explore and develop new skills. Communication with parents is excellent; the staff keep us updated on daily activities, milestones, and any concerns."

"Our two children have both attended nursery here and both have loved their time there. The staff are incredible, and make the children feel so happy and comfortable at the nursery. Our child loves to go to nursery in the morning and is excited to see the staff and his friends. The facilities are excellent and each day provides the opportunity to explore something new. The staff come up with new and creative ways to engage the children as they learn through play."
