Weekly newsfeed updates are sent to parents via the Satchel app. Updates focus on the topic of the week and include photos of activities. Parents are often invited in to read stories, share cultural celebrations, or play musical instruments for the children. We also host Christmas sing alongs and family fun days.

We have good links with our local schools and many teachers will often come to visit the children at our pre-school before their transition. We also organise various activities to help our children prepare for the next step by familiarising them with the routines and expectations of primary school. Our Montessori approach and emphasis on independence means out setting already feels quite similar to a reception classroom which also helps to make the transition smoother for our children. 

We typically offer 3 settling in sessions. For the first session we invite families in to meet with the child's keyworker and complete their "All About Me" booklet. For the second and third sessions we try a drop off, however, if a child needs extra support, we always go at their pace and ensure they are fully comfortable before asking parents to leave. 

We make sure our children get plenty of outdoor time and we get outside at least once in the morning and again after lunch, in all weather conditions.
