Why families choose Kindred Enfield

At Kindred Enfield Nursery and Pre-School, our long-standing staff know our children and families well, helping to create a familiar environment where every child feels safe and supported. Many of our team speak multiple languages, helping us build strong relationships with families where English may not be their first language.

Our large garden gives our children plenty of opportunities to explore and learn outdoors. The toddler garden includes a climbing frame and mud kitchen, giving our children the space to climb, investigate and enjoy imaginative play. Our children also take part in gardening activities helping them learn how to care for plants and understand the natural world.

Indoors, we offer a wide range of  sensory experiences including cosy areas, quiet spaces, and our lending library to create calm moments throughout the day and support a love of reading from an early age.

A little about me...

I have an African Grey parrot who talks just like me and is a much-loved part of my family.

What is one of the most important things you should know about us? That’s easy: our fabulous teams! Pure and simple.
Dedicated to being the best that a family could ask for, our team are constantly developing themselves through our training program run by childcare and EYFS experts.
It is not just our little ones who are the passionate lifelong learners here at Kindred! It’s all a testament to their love of what they do, and what makes Kindred the incredible, loving place that it is.

DAY IN THE LIFE

Day in the Life

Drop Off

Our doors open from 08:00, where you and your little one will be greeted by a member of our friendly team who will strive to ensure that the transition from home to nursery is a smooth and happy one. Wave ‘see you soon!’ to your child in the knowledge that they will be safe, well cared for and having endless amounts of fun as they settle in for the day ahead.

Breakfast

Our children start their day off correctly with a healthy range of options to choose from, such as cereals, fruit and toast for breakfast from 08:00. For weaning babies at all mealtimes, a specially curated weaning menu is prepared by our trained chef and can be mashed, chopped or pureed depending on your child's individual needs.

Morning

Fuelled with a yummy breakfast, children enjoy a range of enrichment activities, adult-led learning linked to focus topics and child-led play experiences. From loose parts exploration and sensory activities to creative arts, imaginative role play and cosy reading corners, there is truly something for every child to enjoy. Outdoor play also forms an important part of the morning, allowing children to build confidence, develop physical skills and explore through active play. A healthy snack is available from 10:30 to keep everyone energised throughout their busy morning.

Lunch

From 11:30, we enjoy lunch, freshly prepared by our on-site chef. Mealtimes provide a wonderful opportunity to socialise with friends, develop independence and explore a variety of flavours and textures. Our seasonal menus offer plenty of choice and are carefully adapted to accommodate individual dietary requirements and preferences.

Nap Time

Following lunch, our younger children can enjoy a well-earned nap or quiet time. For our little sleepers, we create a calm and comforting atmosphere using soft lighting, soothing music and cosy bedding to support rest and relaxation. Children who are not sleeping can enjoy quiet indoor activities, stories and gentle play, helping to create a peaceful transition into the afternoon.

Afternoon

Children continue their learning journey through a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence. Whether exploring open-ended resources, engaging in imaginative play or enjoying active time outdoors, every afternoon offers opportunities for discovery and development.

Snack

To keep little ones fuelled and ready for all the awe and wonder their days hold, we offer a healthy mid-afternoon snack, including fresh fruit and vegetables alongside other nutritious options. From 15:30, our children enjoy a delicious evening meal before settling into a relaxed period of child-led play, giving them time to unwind and enjoy activities of their own choosing.

Home

As the day draws to a close, children enjoy relaxed play with their friends before being collected throughout the evening. Families are kept up to date through Satchel during the day, and at collection time your child's key person will share highlights of their learning, achievements and wellbeing, along with any important information. Nursery closes at 18:30, when we wave our final goodbyes and wish everyone a safe journey home.

This is just an example day that the nursery follows, each day is subject to variation depending on activities and the needs of the children.

FAQs

FAQs

How do the settling in sessions work at your nursery?

We usually begin with a one-hour session, where your child will meet their key person and you can complete the All About Me booklet which helps us understand your child’s routine, interests, and individual needs.
The second session is usually a stay, play and drop session, giving children the chance to spend a short time in nursery without their parent or carer. The third session is usually a longer drop-off session, helping children become more familiar with the room, team and daily routine.
We take a flexible and personalised approach to settling in, focusing on the needs of each child and family. If a child needs longer to settle, we will adapt the process working closely with parents.

How often do the children play outside at your nursery?

At Kindred Enfield, we make the most of our outdoor space every day, giving our children plenty of opportunities to play, explore and learn outside. Our children enjoy outdoor time at least twice a day.
When the weather is nice, we may also enjoy outdoor dining, including tea in the garden or a teddy bears’ picnic.

Does your nursery take the children out on trips the local community?

Our children have opportunities to explore local places, including nearby parks. We also connect outings to the children’s learning, such as visiting Tesco’s Little chef Club to choose ingredients for cooking activities. These experiences help bring learning to life, giving children the chance to build confidence, learn about their local community and make connections with the world around them.

What are the staff-to-child ratios at your nursery?

Our staff-to-child ratios strictly adhere to UK regulations to ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
Our regulated ratios are as follows:
Babies (Under 2 years): 1 staff member to every 3 children (1:3)
Toddlers (2-3 years): 1 staff member to every 5 children (1:5)
Preschoolers (3-4 years): 1 staff member to every 8 children (1:8)

How does your nursery engage with families and build a strong community?

We build strong relationships with parents through daily handovers, open communication and regular opportunities for families to come into the nursery. We also hold parent evenings, new parent events and workshops, including support around topics such as toilet training. We invite families into the nursery for a variety of celebrations from summer parties, Christmas nativities and story time sessions. These events are very popular helping families connect, build friendships and feel part of the nursery community.

"My son has been attending this nursery for over a year now, and he is very happy there. His key worker is absolutely amazing-she is caring, attentive, and really understands his needs. He genuinely loves going in every day, which says everything.
The staff pay great attention to detail and always keep us updated, which gives us real peace of mind. They look after my son so well, and we've seen such a big improvement in his confidence, communication, and overall development since he started. We are so grateful for the support and dedication from the whole team-highly recommend this nursery to any parent"

Hatice A

"My daughter has been attending the nursery for the past five months, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. She genuinely looks forward to going in every day, which speaks volumes about the warm and welcoming environment the team has created. Since starting, her language has developed so much, and it's been wonderful to see her growing in confidence. She absolutely loves all the staff members, and it's clear they've built strong, caring relationships with her."

Charlotte T

" I've always held the staff in the highest regard as they've always been helpful, accommodating and knowledgeable. The chef, always makes a great menu and my son always comes home saying he loved the food. The nursery itself is spacious, and there always seems that the staff have plenty of activities for them to do. I also like the fact that the kids also have yoga and football taught to them by separate specialists. Overtime, I have seen my son develop his physical capabilities and also his mental capabilities. I believe the team have done an amazing job getting him ready for reception."
