A little about me...

My favourite children’s book is Handa’s Surprise because I love using props and real fruit to bring the story to life, giving children the opportunity to see, touch and taste the different fruits while learning about sharing and friendship.

What is one of the most important things you should know about us? That’s easy: our fabulous teams! Pure and simple.
Dedicated to being the best that a family could ask for, our team are constantly developing themselves through our training program run by childcare and EYFS experts.
It is not just our little ones who are the passionate lifelong learners here at Kindred! It’s all a testament to their love of what they do, and what makes Kindred the incredible, loving place that it is.

DAY IN THE LIFE

Day in the Life

Drop Off

Our doors open from 07:30, where you and your little one will be greeted by a member of our friendly team who will strive to ensure that the transition from home to nursery is a smooth and happy one. Wave ‘see you soon!’ to your child in the knowledge that they will be safe, well cared for and having endless amounts of fun as they settle in for the day ahead.

Breakfast

Our children start their day off correctly with a healthy range of options to choose from, such as cereals, fruit and toast for breakfast. For weaning babies at all mealtimes, a specially curated weaning menu is prepared by our trained chef and can be mashed, chopped or pureed depending on your child's individual needs.

Morning

We come together for singing and story time before beginning a morning filled with exciting opportunities for learning and discovery. Fuelled with a yummy breakfast, children enjoy a range of enrichment activities, adult-led learning linked to focus topics and child-led play experiences. From loose parts exploration and sensory activities to creative arts, imaginative role play and cosy reading corners, there is truly something for every child to enjoy. Outdoor play also forms an important part of the morning, allowing children to build confidence, develop physical skills and explore through active play. A healthy snack is available from 10:00 to keep everyone energised throughout their busy morning.

Lunch

From 12:00, we enjoy lunch, freshly prepared by our on-site chef. Mealtimes provide a wonderful opportunity to socialise with friends, develop independence and explore a variety of flavours and textures. Our seasonal menus offer plenty of choice and are carefully adapted to accommodate individual dietary requirements and preferences.

Nap Time

Following lunch, our younger children can enjoy a well-earned nap or quiet time. For our little sleepers, we create a calm and comforting atmosphere using soft lighting, soothing music and cosy bedding to support rest and relaxation. Children who are not sleeping can enjoy quiet indoor activities, stories and gentle play, helping to create a peaceful transition into the afternoon.

Afternoon

Children continue their learning journey through a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence. Whether exploring open-ended resources, engaging in imaginative play or enjoying active time outdoors, every afternoon offers opportunities for discovery and development.

Snack

To keep little ones fuelled and ready for all the awe and wonder their days hold, we offer a healthy mid-afternoon snack, including fresh fruit and vegetables alongside other nutritious options. From 15:30, our children enjoy a delicious evening meal before settling into a relaxed period of child-led play, giving them time to unwind and enjoy activities of their own choosing.

Home

As the day draws to a close, children enjoy relaxed play with their friends before being collected throughout the evening. Families are kept up to date through Satchel during the day, and at collection time your child's key person will share highlights of their learning, achievements and wellbeing, along with any important information. Nursery closes at 18:00, when we wave our final goodbyes and wish everyone a safe journey home.

This is just an example day that the nursery follows, each day is subject to variation depending on activities and the needs of the children.

FAQs

FAQs

What is the unique feel or ethos of your nursery team?

A key part of our ethos is supporting not only children but also their families. We provide a range of learning bags that families can borrow to help children understand new experiences and life events such as Going to the Doctors and New Sibling. We also offer a lending library and story sets to help families continue children's learning outside of nursery. Our goal is to work in partnership with families to provide every child with the care support and enriching experiences needed for them to thrive.

How do the settling in sessions at your nursery work?

Our settling in process begins with a one-hour session where you will complete your child's All About Me booklet and meet the nursery team, including their child's key person.  Following this, your child will attend two settling-in sessions approximately two and a half hours each, giving them time to become familiar with the environment, staff and daily routines. Children attending a morning session stay for lunch, while those attending an afternoon session stay for tea.
We recognise that every child is unique, so our process can be adapted to suit individual needs, helping each child feel secure as they start their nursery journey.

How often do the children play outside at your nursery?

Outdoor play is an important part of everyday life at Kindred Edmonton.  Our children enjoy free-flow access to age-specific outdoor environments throughout the day. We believe children learn best through hands-on experiences, so we provide opportunities for outdoor exploration, physical activity and learning in all weather conditions.

How does your nursery engage with families and build a strong community?

We build strong relationships with parents by creating regular opportunities for them to be involved in nursery life, including Stay and Play sessions, graduations, family events and wider community activities. We understand that every family is unique, so we take the time to get to know them, maintain open communication and work in partnership to support both the child and their family.
We also provide resources such as learning bags, story sacks and a lending library to help continue learning at home and support families with key milestones and experiences.

How does your nursery prepare my child for the transition to school?

We work closely with local schools to help children feel confident and excited about starting school. Teachers visit the nursery to meet the children and children become familiar with their new school through photographs and discussions about what school will be like.
Within the nursery we focus on developing the key skills our children need for their next step e.g.  practising putting on their coats and shoes, managing their belongings and following daily routines. Our home corner is adapted into a school classroom which helps children understand what to expect and makes the transition to school feel familiar and positive.

"I can't say enough good things about my daughter's nursery! From day one, the staff have been incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive. They truly go above and beyond to make every child feel safe and loved. The environment is bright, clean, and full of engaging activities that keep her excited to learn and explore every day. I'm so grateful we found this place-highly recommend it to any parent!"

“My child has been attending Kindred Edmonton since she was one year old, and the growth I've seen in her has been incredible. Over her time at the nursery, she has developed so much-emotionally, physically, and behaviourally. She's become more confident, expressive, and independent, and it's clear that the nurturing environment has played a huge role in that. She has also made wonderful friendships with children she continues to see in the neighbourhood, which has helped her feel even more connected and supported.”

"Such a lovely nursery - my son absolutely loves attending, with lots of activities always on for even little ones and a gorgeous baby room. The staff are wonderful, very welcoming, friendly, warm and caring and great at knowing what he needs and his little personality. The app is great for updates on individual days and is lovely to see a snapshot of what his day has been like, as well as detailed feedback on my son and how he's progressing. The meals are extremely varied and the staff are great at directly feeding back to parents on little things they notice with habits and likes and dislikes."
