Why families choose Kindred Tring

At Kindred Tring Nursery and Pre-School, outdoor play and learning are central to our philosophy. Set within the beautiful Tring Park Cricket Club grounds, our children enjoy the freedom of wide-open fields alongside our own garden. We further enrich this experience through our Forest School, giving our little ones the chance to explore and learn through interactive experiences with nature.

We help our children build confidence and meaningful links to the world around them through regular visits out into our local community including nearby parks, the library, the museum, and even the fire station.

We build strong relationships with our families though fun seasonal events, such as our annual Christmas nativity, that involves parents and carers in the excitement of nursery life. We also ensure our parents are always kept up-to-date with their child's daily adventures with regular updates via our parent app newsfeed.

DAY IN THE LIFE

Day in the Life

Drop Off

Our doors open from 08:00, where you and your little one will be greeted by a member of our friendly team who will strive to ensure that the transition from home to nursery is a smooth and happy one. Wave ‘see you soon!’ to your child in the knowledge that they will be safe, well cared for and having endless amounts of fun as they settle in for the day ahead.

Breakfast

Our children start their day off correctly with a healthy range of options to choose from, such as cereals, fruit and toast for breakfast. For weaning babies at all mealtimes, a specially curated weaning menu is prepared by our trained chef and can be mashed, chopped or pureed depending on your child's individual needs.

Morning

We come together for circle time before beginning a morning filled with exciting opportunities for learning and discovery. Fuelled with a yummy breakfast, children enjoy a range of enrichment activities, adult-led learning linked to focus topics and child-led play experiences. From loose parts exploration and sensory activities to creative arts, imaginative role play and cosy reading corners, there is truly something for every child to enjoy. Outdoor play also forms an important part of the morning, allowing children to build confidence, develop physical skills and explore through active play. A healthy snack is available from 10:30 to keep everyone energised throughout their busy morning.

Lunch

From 12:00, we enjoy lunch, freshly prepared by our on-site chef. Mealtimes provide a wonderful opportunity to socialise with friends, develop independence and explore a variety of flavours and textures. Our seasonal menus offer plenty of choice and are carefully adapted to accommodate individual dietary requirements and preferences.

Nap Time

Following lunch, our younger children can enjoy a well-earned nap or quiet time. For our little sleepers, we create a calm and comforting atmosphere using soft lighting, soothing music and cosy bedding to support rest and relaxation. Children who are not sleeping can enjoy quiet indoor activities, stories and gentle play, helping to create a peaceful transition into the afternoon.

Afternoon

We come together for circle time before our children continue their learning journey through a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence. Whether exploring open-ended resources, engaging in imaginative play or enjoying active time outdoors, every afternoon offers opportunities for discovery and development.

Snack

To keep little ones fuelled and ready for all the awe and wonder their days hold, we offer a healthy mid-afternoon snack, including fresh fruit and vegetables alongside other nutritious options. From 16:30, our children enjoy a delicious evening meal before settling into a relaxed period of child-led play, giving them time to unwind and enjoy activities of their own choosing.

Home

As the day draws to a close, children enjoy relaxed play with their friends before being collected throughout the evening. Families are kept up to date through Satchel during the day, and at collection time your child's key person will share highlights of their learning, achievements and wellbeing, along with any important information. Nursery closes at 18:00, when we wave our final goodbyes and wish everyone a safe journey home.

This is just an example day that the nursery follows, each day is subject to variation depending on activities and the needs of the children.

FAQs

FAQs

What are the designated parking and access arrangements for drop-off and pick-up at your nursery?

We offer convenient and safe access with a shared car park that includes dedicated spaces for our families ensuring drop-off and pick-ups are as smooth as possible.

What is the unique feel or ethos of your nursery team?

Our nursery team cultivates a creative, fun, and home-from-home feel. We are one big family and are constantly creating enriching opportunities for our children. We're always singing and dancing, which helps to build children's confidence and maintain a joyful and stimulating environment.

How does your nursery engage with families and build a strong community?

We prioritise a collaborative partnership with our diverse parent community through several engaging activities including family events, actively encouraging parents to come into the nursery to share their celebrations and culture with us and involving parents in community activities like donation drives.

How does your nursery prepare my child for the transition to school?

We work closely with local schools to ensure a confident transition. School teachers and staff come to our setting to meet the children, observing and interacting with them in a familiar environment. We also keep parents fully updated on transition dates and information via Satchel.

How do the settling in sessions at your nursery work?

Our settling in sessions are structured, yet highly flexible, ensuring a comfortable transition for your child. During the first session you stay with your child to complete the 'All About Me' booklet and discuss key information. During the second and third sessions you will drop you child for an hour and 2 hours respectively so they can independently familiarise themselves with environment and begin to form bonds with their key person and peers.
If we or you feels they need more time, we are very flexible and can easily add more sessions to ensure every child is fully happy and secure.

“Really pleased with Kindred nursery my daughter has settled in really well. Every staff member has been lovely.
