Why families choose Kindred Rayleigh

At Kindred Rayleigh Nursery and Pre-School, we cultivate a nurturing, home-from-home environment where every child feels secure. We are big on healthy eating and work hard to ensure our children develop positive lifelong relationships with food.

Our commitment to daily outdoor learning is central to our approach and our large garden features fantastic resources from balance beams, a mud kitchen and a secret garden for cosy story times. Our pre-school garden even has their very own veg patch where we grow fruit and veg.

We foster curiosity through real-world connections, and our children benefit from strong community links, including regular visits from the local library and exciting trips to the local post office and greengrocers.

A little about me...

I love the colour green!

What is one of the most important things you should know about us? That’s easy: our fabulous teams! Pure and simple.
Dedicated to being the best that a family could ask for, our team are constantly developing themselves through our training program run by childcare and EYFS experts.
It is not just our little ones who are the passionate lifelong learners here at Kindred! It’s all a testament to their love of what they do, and what makes Kindred the incredible, loving place that it is.

DAY IN THE LIFE

Day in the Life

Drop Off

Our doors open from 07:30, where you and your little one will be greeted by a member of our friendly team who will strive to ensure that the transition from home to nursery is a smooth and happy one. Wave ‘see you soon!’ to your child in the knowledge that they will be safe, well cared for and having endless amounts of fun as they settle in for the day ahead.

Breakfast

Our children start their day off correctly with a healthy range of options to choose from, such as cereals, fruit and toast for breakfast from 08:00. For weaning babies at all mealtimes, a specially curated weaning menu is prepared by our trained chef and can be mashed, chopped or pureed depending on your child's individual needs.

Morning

We come together for circle time before beginning a morning filled with exciting opportunities for learning and discovery. Fuelled with a yummy breakfast, children enjoy a range of enrichment activities, adult-led learning linked to focus topics and child-led play experiences. From loose parts exploration and sensory activities to creative arts, imaginative role play and cosy reading corners, there is truly something for every child to enjoy. Outdoor play also forms an important part of the morning, allowing children to build confidence, develop physical skills and explore through active play. A healthy snack is available from 10:00 to keep everyone energised throughout their busy morning.

Lunch

From 11:30, we enjoy lunch, freshly prepared by our on-site chef. Mealtimes provide a wonderful opportunity to socialise with friends, develop independence and explore a variety of flavours and textures. Our seasonal menus offer plenty of choice and are carefully adapted to accommodate individual dietary requirements and preferences.

Nap Time

Following lunch, our younger children can enjoy a well-earned nap or quiet time. For our little sleepers, we create a calm and comforting atmosphere using soft lighting, soothing music and cosy bedding to support rest and relaxation. Children who are not sleeping can enjoy quiet indoor activities, stories and gentle play, helping to create a peaceful transition into the afternoon.

Afternoon

Children continue their learning journey through a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence. Whether exploring open-ended resources, engaging in imaginative play or enjoying active time outdoors, every afternoon offers opportunities for discovery and development.

Snack

To keep little ones fuelled and ready for all the awe and wonder their days hold, we offer a healthy mid-afternoon snack, including fresh fruit and vegetables alongside other nutritious options. From 16:00, our children enjoy a delicious evening meal before settling into a relaxed period of child-led play, giving them time to unwind and enjoy activities of their own choosing.

Home

As the day draws to a close, children enjoy relaxed play with their friends before being collected throughout the evening. Families are kept up to date through Satchel during the day, and at collection time your child's key person will share highlights of their learning, achievements and wellbeing, along with any important information. Nursery closes at 18:00, when we wave our final goodbyes and wish everyone a safe journey home.

This is just an example day that the nursery follows, each day is subject to variation depending on activities and the needs of the children.

FAQs

FAQs

What are the designated parking and access arrangements for drop-off and pick-up at your nursery?

We have a private car park specifically for our families allowing for convenient and safe access to the nursery during peak drop-off and pick-up times.

What is the unique feel of ethos of your nursery team?

We are a close-knit team with a wide range of ages, knowledge, and experience, with the perfect balance of longstanding staff and newer team members who bring fresh ideas. We pride ourselves on maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that is as supportive of new staff as it is of our families.

How does your nursery engage parents and build strong community?

We believe in a collaborative approach and maintain an open-door policy, inviting parents to be an active part of our community. We build these bonds through family fun days, scheduled telephone catchups and ensuring we are always accessible for our parents.

How do the settling in sessions at your nursery work?

We typically offer 3 to 4 sessions to ensure your child feels secure, though we are always happy to accommodate if more are needed.
During the first session, you and your child will meet their keyworker and fill out the 'All About Me' booklet, helping us learn about your child's personality, routines, and preferences. This is followed by two further sessions where you drop your child so they can independently build their confidence within the nursery environment and bond with their keyworker.

How does your nursery prepare my child for the transition to school?

We have built excellent relationships with many local schools to ensure a smooth transition for your child. Our School Readiness programme includes visits from local school teachers, introducing P.E. sessions and using uniform donations from older siblings in our role play corner.

Reviews for Kindred Rayleigh

“Our son has attended Kindred Rayleigh since he was 9 months old, and the care and love shown since has been excellent. His key worker and all staff in his room have been attentive and are always happy to tell us how he is doing, be that in person or over the app if we ask during the day. Our son seems really happy and is always smiley at pick up. We've seen all our son's progress as they send us photos and updates which we love receiving!”

“Our toddler started in September and the team were really compassionate and supportive during the transition period - our little one loves going to nursery now and that's a credit to the team and the environment they create. There's always themes for the activity table, external guests (like sensory classes) etc keeping nursery fun and engaging for our toddler. Staff are friendly, supportive and always happy to help.”
