At Kindred Aylesbury Nursery and Pre-School, we offer a cosy home from home environment where every child is cared for as an individual. Many of our dedicated team members have been with us for over 20 years, providing consistency and allowing us to build strong bonds with our families.
Our Readiness Road room is led by a fully qualified pre-school teacher whose expertise guides our school readiness approach and ensures our children are prepared for a confident transition to primary school.
From hatching peacock eggs with the help of local farmers to learning all about life in the hive from our visiting beekeeper, we bring the magic of the outdoors to life. Through our plant to plate initiative using our very own allotment, our children discover the joy of growing their own food, and we love nothing more than sharing any surplus harvest with our parents!

Lunch
From 11:45, we enjoy lunch, freshly prepared by our on-site chef. Mealtimes provide a wonderful opportunity to socialise with friends, develop independence and explore a variety of flavours and textures. Our seasonal menus offer plenty of choice and are carefully adapted to accommodate individual dietary requirements and preferences.
Nap Time
Following lunch, our younger children can enjoy a well-earned nap or quiet time. For our little sleepers, we create a calm and comforting atmosphere using soft lighting, soothing music and cosy bedding to support rest and relaxation. Children who are not sleeping can enjoy quiet indoor activities, stories and gentle play, helping to create a peaceful transition into the afternoon.
Afternoon
Children continue their learning journey through a balance of indoor and outdoor experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and independence. Whether exploring open-ended resources, engaging in imaginative play or enjoying active time outdoors, every afternoon offers opportunities for discovery and development.
Snack
To keep little ones fuelled and ready for all the awe and wonder their days hold, we offer a healthy mid-afternoon snack, including fresh fruit and vegetables alongside other nutritious options. From 15:45, our children enjoy a delicious evening meal before settling into a relaxed period of child-led play, giving them time to unwind and enjoy activities of their own choosing.
Home
As the day draws to a close, children enjoy relaxed play with their friends before being collected throughout the evening. Families are kept up to date through Satchel during the day, and at collection time your child's key person will share highlights of their learning, achievements and wellbeing, along with any important information. Nursery closes at 18:00, when we wave our final goodbyes and wish everyone a safe journey home.
This is just an example day that the nursery follows, each day is subject to variation depending on activities and the needs of the children.
FAQs
FAQs
How often do the children get to play outside at your nursery?
We believe there is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes! Our children are outside every single day, in all weathers. A unique highlight of our outdoor curriculum is our allotment space. During the growing season, children are actively involved in planting and nurturing produce, teaching them all about sustainability and where their food comes from.
Does your nursery take the children on trips in the local community?
We are proud of our close connection with Waddesdon Manor. Our children participate in meaningful community projects on their grounds, such as bulb planting sessions and creating and displaying Christmas decorations for the Manor during the festive season. These trips provide our children with a sense of pride and belonging within our local heritage and community.
How does your nursery engage with families and build a strong community?
We foster an open and collaborative relationship with our families through and regularly invite parents in for general catch-ups as and when possible to ensure consistent communication. We also host interactive activities like Spring Seed Planting event. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to join their children in planting seeds and working together to build our nursery scarecrow, creating lasting memories while supporting the children's learning.
How does your nursery prepare my child for the transition to school?
We have strong links with our local schools, meeting with them once a term to ensure every transition is handled with care and detail. Our Preschool Room Leader is a former primary school teacher and uses that experience to help the children develop the basic skills needed for school ensuring they feel confident and ready to start.
What are the staff-to-child ratios at your nursery?
Our staff-to-child ratios strictly adhere to UK regulations to ensure a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
Our regulated ratios are as follows:
Babies (Under 2 years): 1 staff member to every 3 children (1:3)
Toddlers (2-3 years): 1 staff member to every 5 children (1:5)
Preschoolers (3-4 years): 1 staff member to every 8 children (1:8)
ENRICHMENT
Enrichment
We believe that providing children with rich and varied learning opportunities from an early age supports their overall development and helps them to thrive. Each week, children will enjoy a thoughtfully planned programme of enrichment activities designed to enhance their nursery experience, spark curiosity, nurture a love of learning and create memorable moments. These additional experiences encourage creativity, support holistic development and provide wonderful learning opportunities that broaden children’s experiences and help them discover more about the world around them.
